What is tattoo removal?
Boise Dermatology & Medspa is pleased to provide laser tattoo removal with the latest innovations in laser technology. During laser treatments, energy is delivered to unwanted tattoos, targeting the ink and breaking it down into smaller particles. The particles are then eliminated through a natural process in the body, resulting in superior clearance with fewer treatments when compared to traditional laser removal treatment methods.
With advanced laser technology, all ink colors can be treated. We can also successfully treat stubborn tattoos that were not removed, or only partially removed with traditional laser removal treatments.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
During treatments, laser energy specifically targets tattoo ink and works to only shatter ink particles, without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. The technology delivers ultra-short pulses of specialized energy. The pulses are so quick that they cause a change in pressure that breaks the ink into tiny, dust-like particles. An interesting note about laser tattoo removal is that the lasers do not actually remove the tattoos, rather your body will do so naturally. The tiny, broken-up ink particles will be absorbed by your body’s lymphatic system and exit naturally.
Best of all, laser tattoo removal often requires fewer treatments than other available tattoo removal procedures.
What should I expect from the results?
Laser treatments are quick and convenient. Many patients compare the feeling to that of getting a tattoo. The number of treatments required varies and is dependent on ink type, size of the tattoo, location on the body, lifestyle habits, the age of the tattoo, etc. Immediately after your treatment, you may see a slight whitening or “frosting” of the treated skin, which will subside after the process is complete. Other temporary effects may include mild swelling and redness.
